Blood Bayou: A Louisiana Tale of Terror

Horror Genre

As the appointed time drew near, the skies darkened, clouds swirling with an ominous energy. A putrid stench permeated the air, an amalgamation of decay and sulfur. Shadows danced with an eerie life of their own, twisting and contorting into grotesque shapes that taunted the human imagination. Then, from the heart of the earth, a creature emerged— its form a grotesque distortion of flesh and bone. Its elongated limbs moved with an unnatural grace, each step leaving a sickening imprint in the ground. Its skin, ashen and cracked, oozed a viscous black substance that seemed to defy the laws of nature.

Scenes

Here are some scenes from “Blood Bayou: A Louisiana Tale of Terror”

Old Boudreaux, a cajun mystery around Lake Pointe. According to Miss Hattie, owner of Hattie’s General store just off Main Street says, “Girl, you don’t wanna go messin’ ’round that Bayou an’ those lagoons, That place is haunted, I tell ya. Folks ’round here don’t even go near it after dark.”

The bartender described Boudreaux as:

“He’s the oldest Cajun in these parts. Folks say he’s been living in that swamp for as long as anyone can remember. Some say he’s been there since before the Louisiana Purchase. But nobody knows for sure. He’s a recluse, but he comes into town once in a while to get supplies. Stops in here for a beer evertime he does.”

SAMANTHA’S stay at Mabel’s boarding home in Lake Pointe, Louisiana. She has a room on the second floor of the old but well kept home.

“Hi there! You must be Samantha. I’m Mabel, the owner of the place. Come on in an’ let me show you your room!”
Samantha liked Mabel immediately and followed her up a narrow staircase.

SAMANTHA DUBOIS—the protagonist on the story as she works as a biologist and environmentalist in the wetlands of Blood Bayou.

Samantha talking with her friend Dennis in the Fish and Game Office in Washington, D.C. before leaving for her new position in Lake Pointe.

“Think ya funny, do ya, buster. Wellll…maybe a little,” she said with a little laugh.
Dennis laughed.
“What? A little? That hurts, Sam!” he said with a grin.
They both laughed while she removed her memory stick and closed the lid.
Dennis lowered his voice, “Seriously though, Emily…why Louisana?
She blew out her breath and stretched he…

Samantha chatting with the bartender the first day in town about Old Boudreaux.

“I was there and I saw it with my own two eyes,” the bartender said. “It wasn’t an illusion either ma’am. That old Cajun just up and disappeared while we watched. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Samantha must face this nameless terror—a formless, swirling miasma of malevolence that adapts to the fears of its victims. With a mere thought, it can materialize into grotesque shapes and eerie specters, tormenting the minds of those unfortunate enough to cross its path. Its ethereal essence is a canvas of fear, ever-shifting and contorting, playing with the boundaries of reality and the sanity of its victims…

BLOOD BAYOU— near the fictional Louisiana town of Lake Point—the main setting of the book.

Hattie’s General Store—Lake Pointe, Louisiana on Main Street. This was the protaginist’s, Samantha Dubois, first stop when she arrived in town.

“Well, you be careful, honey. You find a good guide when you go out there and never after dark. That swamp’s been the death of a few foolhardy souls over the years. You look up a man by the name of Pierre Leblanc—he is the best and knows those swampy bayous like you know your own name!”

More of the fictitious town of Lake Pointe, La. The entity Boudreaux calls ‘The Entity’ threatens to enter through the Portal to accomplish it pure evil destiny—only Samantha Dubois can challenge it. Samantha replies to Bordreaux, “I-I-can’t do this Boudreaux, the Entity is too strong!”

Samantha and a potential bayou guide, Pierre LaBlanc, sent by Miss Hattie just before the tree limb cracks and almost crushes them both.

Shack in the swamplands of Blood Bayou where Samantha was held after the kidnapping from the restaurant before being rescued by Jean-Luc.
Emily felt fear…fear of such magnitude that she felt her heart racing so fast she felt it would burst in her chest. She was in total darkness …a darkness so complete that it felt like a weighted blanket pressing down on her.
“SAM-MAN-THAAA!” a voice rang in her head. The voice was deep with a hoarseness that gave it a frightening timber. She felt such cold that she was freezing. Reaching out, she found she was tied hand and foot. The sound of someone…no, she could sense it wasn’t a someone…it was a some-thing! Some-thing that wasn’t right. It was an obvious abomination of some kind from the depths of impossible comprehension! Unable to see, unable to cope, she began to scream…and scream… and SCREAM!
Samantha (right) and Audrey on couch in Audrey’s apartment the morning Samantha leaves D.C. for Louisiana.
Samantha let out a sigh. “I’m just thinking about this job in Louisiana. It’s all happening so fast, and I’m not sure what to expect.”
Audrey nodded. “I get it. But you know what? You’re going to have a great time down there. The people are friendly, the food is amazing, and the culture is like nowhere else.”
Samantha smiled. “Yeah, you’re right. I just need to get out of my head and embrace the adventure.”
“That’s the spirit,” Aud said with a grin. “And don’t forget, I’m just a phone call away if you need anything.”
